What is Yoga/Mindfulness Coaching for Families?
Led by registered children’s yoga teacher and school psychologist Suzanne Brubaker, these are one-on-one sessions which use movement and mindfulness (among other techniques) to support the mental, emotional, and physical health of kids. Yoga for youth has been shown to support healthy regulation and focus, self-concept, body awareness, mood/emotions, self-esteem, and more.
How does it work?
- Typically our Integrative Yoga sessions begin with a one-on-one with Suzanne, in which you (the caregiver) and Suzanne discuss goals, concerns, experiences, and other thoughts pertaining to your child or family.
- Sessions typically alternate between one-on-one check-ins (often over Zoom) and in-person sessions with Suzanne and your child and/or you! These sessions will be mind and body focused, and designed specifically to meet both the needs of your child and your entire family. Suzanne’s techniques are centered around finding ways for your child to feel connected to yoga, to benefit from the sessions, and to feel empowered for years to come!
- Sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly. Suzanne will make recommendations, but our goal is ultimately to honor your time and energy, and work together to find a plan that works best!
What's Included?
- 4 25-min Zoom or in-person sessions per month: 1-2 of these each month will be one-on-one with caregiver; 1-2 of these each month will be working with your child and caregiver or family*
- yoga techniques and tools designed to support the needs of your family, including but not limited to: breathing techniques, grounding strategies, individual and partner poses, and mindfulness games/activities
- follow up emails after each session which include a summary of the session and recommended strategies discussed
- access to our Water and Rock Kids Facebook page, which includes dozens of resources and loads of information!
*In order to gain the most benefit from Yoga/Mindfulness Coaching, we recommend a minimum of 4 sessions a month, at 25 minutes each, for 3 months. Our pricing reflects this. However, depending on the needs of your family or child, this can be adjusted to fit your family!
